Side Plank with Extension Exercise

Next on to a core exercise that works both sides of the body alternately. This is the side plank with extension. Let’s show you how it’s done down here.

So I always fold a bit of the mat over to protect my elbow. You can use a towel if you’d like, and we want a nice straight line with the body, and we want the elbow to be underneath the armpit. From here, you’re going to lift the body up. Get the hips as high as you can towards the ceiling. It needs to be a nice right angle between the floor and the hips. Don’t roll backwards. Don’t roll forwards. From here, you’re going to drop the hips to the floor and drive them back up. That’s one repetition. Two, three, four, and then obviously you’re going to do 25 on one side.

Then you’re going to switch over, and you’re going to do 25 on the other for a total of 50 repetitions of the side plank with extension.
