London Boot Camps - Questions & Answers
I am new to fitness and exercise will this be too much for me to begin with?
It really does not matter what your current fitness levels are, we will start with the most basic exercises which are achievable by all. Also we progress together so regardless of fitness levels we can tailor the exercises to benefit anybody from a beginner to experienced fitness fanatics!
I have never trained in a group before and feel a little apprehensive, how can I overcome this?
This is a common thing for participants, however, no need to feel this way, we will at times be working in pairs or even teams which is good to boost moral in the group. Once we have started the course the group remains the same throughout the course of sessions so we all progress at the same time. Feel free to bring a friend as a training partner to work together or compete with. You will be surprised at what support others in the group will give!
I work at an office desk most days and suffer with back problems, will this benefit me or make it worse?
75% of the population suffer with chronic back problems or have had back pain in their life time. The techniques we use are designed to get the body moving as it should, after all the body is made to move and not to be still! After just a few weeks of this training you will notice a change in your functional strength and posture, and pain will subside if not diminish over time. Feel free to look at our clients testimonials to see what results they have achieved.
I have suffered injury in the past and I'm recovering, could I still join in the fun?
We will take the necessary precautions with each individual should they have a specific condition that may cause concern. Each individual works at their own rate so you have a degree of control over how hard you push yourself but please remember that this is a ‘boot camp’! Also the PAR.Q questionnaire should highlight any areas we need to address.
I'm an experienced ‘fitness fanatic’ and train for long distance running. Will this type of training hinder these objectives?
The beauty of our training is that it builds functional strength. Training adaptations can be made to suit any kind of sporting background. Regardless of your training regime incorporating certain exercises will complement your performance at any level. Prepare to build fitness levels and functional strength that will complement a sprinter, long distance runner, martial artist and any racket sport to name but a few!
I try to be careful with what I eat but what is the best thing to eat prior to exercise?
This can be quite debatable from one individual to another, though taking an early morning session into consideration eating very lightly like fruit and a glass of water 30 mins before hand would get your metabolism going and kick start your energy for the session. After the session your body continues to burn calories to repair and restore energy levels. The best and most beneficial time to eat is within an hour after exercise, again with something healthy to replenish your body. For more detailed information about nutrition feel free to ask about our metabolic typing to see what type of food best suits your physiology.
