Personal Training Secret #1 Exercise isn't important for Fat Loss

I've spent many years with one soul goal in mind, helping my clients lose as much fat as possible in the shortest amount of time. And guess what? The majority of the results had nothing to do with exercise at all. In fact 70 - 80% of the results that I achieved came from somewhere else. As soon as I understood the missing ingredient I started to focus and then the results started flooding in.

The missing ingredient, of course, was nutrition.

What you eat and drink have such a large impact on your body that no amount of exercise can undo bad nutrition. It foolishly took me years of trying every exercise program under the sun before I realised this fact.

Here's a summary of the essential points:

1. "A Calorie is just a Calorie" is totally false. Nothing annoys me more than being told "Well its just calories in versus calories out". Do you think 300 calories of broccoli has the same impact on the body as 300 calories of ice cream? Of course not. Carbohydrates, Fat and Protein each interact with our hormonal system in a different way. Learn to separate the good stuff from the bad.

2. Always put your nutrition in front of your exercise. In other words, if you have the choice of cleaning up your nutrition or exercising always choose nutrition first.

3. Eating Cake or Pizza and then saying "I'll have to work harder at the gym later" is ridiculous. Based on point number 1 above this logic does not make sense. If you have the choice, don't eat the cake and don't go to the gym.

4. Exercise is important but only once your nutrition is in order, prioritise. Exercise will increase your metabolism, burn fat, create afterburn, and make you look and feel better, but for fat loss nutrition comes first.

5. Get wise with nutrition. Cutting saturated fat, eating low fat alternatives and drinking sugar-free drinks is all marketing bulls*@t. We have been following these rules for years and we are progressively getting more obese, year on year. Understand that this isn't what really makes you fat (more on this later).

If you truly want to lose fat then start paying attention to your nutrition. You would be better off quitting your monthly gym membership and investing in a good, clean organic delivery service or spending your gym time at home preparing a proper nutritional meal.

These are the Personal Training Secrets that really make a difference. Ask any professional that consistently gets fat loss results and they're tell you the same thing.

Stay tuned I'll be back with Personal Training Secret #2 in a few days.
