Do you exercise for FUN or for RESULTS?
Hey it's Greg here,
I have a question for you...
Do you exercise for fun or just to get results?
There is an important distinction between the two and it often gets overlooked.
Take a look at the following list and see if any of these apply to you:
The Fun List
- You always perform exercises that you enjoy rather those that are good for you
- You avoid a challenge and remain within your comfort zone
- You exercise while watching TV or while chatting to a friend
- You spend hours at the gym and take large rests periods to socialise
- You focus more on supplements and protein powders than on Good Clean Nutrition
- You spend most of your time changing exercises based on the latest magazine articles
- You enter the gym without a clear plan and never record your workouts
I would class this type of exerciser as someone who exercises for fun.
There is nothing wrong with this but it lacks direction and a clear focus on results.
Now compare it to this list:
The Results List
- You always work on your weaknesses, devoting more time to these than anything else
- You focus on the BIG bang exercises first and only worry about others if you have time
- You record each workout and plan your progressions beforehand
- You don't chat or socialise, you focus and get the job done
- You push yourself hard and challenge yourself each workout
- You eat a clean diet and only worry about supplements when everything else is in order
So which list applies to you?
Sometimes its good just to recheck your focus. With magazines and the advent of the internet we often get overwhelmed and start to lose focus.
We can chop and change, always thinking there is a better solution out there. Always looking for the easy option.
Truth is there is no easy option when it comes to getting results from exercise.
If it feels easy then you are not working hard enough!
Remember that the body will only change when it is stressed enough to NEED to change.
So, take another look at your exercise program and ask yourself: Am I really doing what I need to do to get results or am I just exercising for fun?
Oh and if you're exercising for fun and it's not that much fun either then STOP wasting your precious time.
