  As a boy growing up in the Midlands I was a very keen martial artist, I trained 6 times a week and even turned my bedroom into a gym, I had punch bags hanging from the ceiling, speed balls, a wooden man for punching and blocking techniques, dumbbells, barbells, you name it… Here I am rockin' my serious face :-) ![]() I remember when Karate Kid the movie first came out, you can imagine how excited I was, I recorded it on video and would watch it over and over again…I loved that film. Mr. Miyagi was my hero One of my favourite quotes from that film is when Mr. Miyagi talks to Daniel-san about balance. He says "Whole life, have balance, everything be better." What a powerful scene eh! I think that in today's fast paced world we are often quick to forget about life's balance. We work too hard, exercise ourselves into the ground, watch too much TV, poison ourselves with dead food, panic about insignificant things and so on... We are too quick to forget about the relationship we have with ourselves and others, we neglect to have any personal time thinking about what really matters in life. Ultimately we live totally unbalanced lives and it shows in the rising levels of: obesity, back pain, stress, anti depressant pills, drugs, alcoholism, the list goes on…. In order to live a healthy and happy life you need to find a balance just like Mr. Miyagi says You need to address:
These are the 4 pillars for a healthy and happy life, and they have all stood the test of time! Too many people spend all their time struggling with the Physical, believing that exercise or nutrition holds all the answers but spending too much time in this area does not create a balance. Many peoples exercise or nutrition goes against their values (spirituality) so it is always doomed to failure, or they are exercising out of Fear (Emotions) again never the best long term motivator, or they don't allocate enough rest and self reflection, to release stress (the mental). All 4 of these pillars are vital for a healthy and prosperous life. Take any one pillar away and the whole thing becomes unbalanced and crumbles. Starting in January I'll be helping you explore all 4 of these pillars of Health and Happiness. I'll be releasing a monthly newsletter called "Restoring the Balance" that includes actionable steps to better balance your life, it will provide focus and direction. I'm excited its going to be a huge education and transformation for all those who get involved.
